Mark Watkin brings over 18 years experience in the marketing and communications industry. Originally from the UK, Mark cut his teeth at Saatchi & Saatchi London where he first learned the power of creativity and how it can impact change. He’s since worked in senior roles at top tier networked agencies including George Patterson Y&R Melbourne and Whybin\TBWA. He is currently Group Managing Director, at BWM Group Melbourne – one of Australia’s largest independent agencies.
Sport has always played a huge part in Mark’s life and has enabled him to learn a lot about himself. He rowed for 20 years winning numerous titles including the coveted Wyfold Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in the UK and the Head of the Charles in Boston, USA. Since retiring from rowing he’s taken to fitting in endurance events, including Ironman triathlon (6 time finisher), marathons (9 time finisher) and cycling, around his job and all important family (Mark is married to Rayne and together they have two children Libby and Freddy).
Mark witnessed first hand Peter and Kristie’s journey with Lily. He met Lily at the Royal Women’s Hospital and saw the positive aura she created around her:
“I saw first hand the incredible care, facilities and importance of the NISC unit. I feel being part of the Lilyroo Fund committee is a positive step to help support neonatal resources in Lily’s name. I also joined for Peter and Kristie, aside from being close friends, they are the Godparents to my first child Libby. One of life’s great gifts is a child and the Lilyroo Fund will help this be a reality for as many parents as possible.”
With someone of Mark’s skills and experience on the committee the Lilyroo Fund is perfectly placed to help as many premature babies as possible at the Royal Women’s Hospital through funding and awareness.
